What is the maximum number of devices I can incorporate into a building?

A maximum of 64 individual LUXORliving devices are intended.

Can I preconfigure a system without connecting it to the devices?

Yes, this is possible at any time. The system can be configured in detail – apart from scenarios, which have to be set later on via the clients (tablets/mobile phones).
Once programming is complete, I can then go into the building, import the hardware and use drag & drop to assign the devices to the program – done!

Am I limited in terms of which buttons I can link to the system?

No, you can integrate any button from the market into the system. With the TA2 I T4 I T8 integration modules, all floating contacts can be integrated; with the REG module B6, non-floating buttons or motion detectors can also be incorporated.

Can the system also dim LEDs?

Yes, the dimmers are based on the highly successful KNX series hardware and are specially designed for professional LED use. The various settings also allow certain adaptations to be made to the lamp.

In order to increase the dimming load of the max. 400 W LED, could I connect a dimming booster from the KNX series?

It is possible to connect a booster to the D2 dimmer, but unfortunately not to the D4.

Can the switching modules handle the now common high inrush currents?

Yes, the switching modules are based on the highly successful KNX series hardware and are specially designed for professional LED use. Inrush currents of up to 800 A/200 microseconds are no problem.

Can a third-party room thermostat also be integrated in the system?

No, unfortunately this is not possible.

With which operating systems can the LUXORplay operating software be used?

Windows, iOS and Android.

Is it also possible to control the building with a Windows system (laptop or mobile phone)?

Yes, this is possible with the LUXORplay version for Windows.

Do I have to have a router in the building to configure the building (download the program)?

No, you don't need one. There is also the option to connect a laptop directly to the IP1.

Why may I encounter trouble connecting to the IP1?

Once the bus voltage has been applied, the IP1 needs to wait at least 30 seconds to 1 minute, then it should be ready for operation. If you still cannot connect, check the following:

  1. If No LAN appears on the display of the IP1:

-> Check the cable connection to the WLAN router (FRITZ!Box/D-Link, etc.)
-> Check the WLAN router (mains voltage applied)

  2. If No BUS is shown permanently on the display of the IP1:

-> Check the cable connection to the LUXORliving power unit
-> Check that the bus line isn't broken
What happens (fails) if the IP1, which is needed to communicate with the app, is no longer detected in the system?

In general, all basic functions remain available. Only control with the app (clients), scenario requests and their saved options, as well as the time and presence functions are then out of action until further notice.

Can I also operate the system without app control (cost reduction)?

Yes, this is generally possible. All controls related to lighting and shading remain available. Only control with the app (clients), scenario requests and their saved options, as well as the time and presence functions are then out of action until further notice.

Can I assign user rights so that others, e.g. my children, cannot control everything?

Yes, as the administrator you are able to grant access rights or, if necessary, to revoke them at any time.

Can I dim LEDs?

The D2 and D4 dimmers were specifically designed for dimming LEDs and deliver excellent results.

What parts of my building can be climate-controlled with LUXORliving?

Besides controlling radiators and underfloor heating, a cooling function in the building can also be supported.

Can I adapt or change something on my own, without having to call a trained electrician?

With a little technical understanding, you can carry out virtually any adjustments in the functions. However, it is better to have an electrician carry out adjustments in the installation/wiring work.

In case of an extension/renovation, can I also expand functions in the existing system?

The LUXORliving system can be expanded at any time. However, note that you must not exceed a maximum of 64 system components.

Apart from LUXORliving, what else do I need to control my building with an app?

You need an Internet connection, a WiFi network and a connection between the LUXORliving IP1 system control centre and the WLAN router.

Can I access my building when I am away?

Yes, if you have set up a VPN connection via the WLAN router you can access your building from anywhere. If you have installed a camera, you can even see what is going on at home.

Can I integrate one or more cameras?

You can integrate up to 10 IP cameras into your app at any time.

Is the system "communication safe"?

The LUXORliving system uses a communication language that has been tried and tested for many years and has been implemented successfully a million times over.

Are the system components reliable?

The hardware is based on KNX devices which have been successfully used in the field for decades. These devices are equipped with very robust relays that can withstand inrush currents of up to 800 A without damage in the case of LED control.

Do I need a licence to use LUXORliving?

No, the LUXORliving system and apps are free. If, for example, you would like to integrate an Alexa voice control system, the provider's annual fee must be taken into account.

Who can help me to plan and install a LUXORliving system?

Ask your local electrician. The system is very easy to install and start up, and, if required, our trained experts can also help you via our hotline.

Is there any possibility to control the room temperature without a room thermostat?

In order to detect the current room temperature, you’ve to use a T 4/ T8 or an actuator S1 e.g. to affiliate a temperature probe floor sensor (9070321), temperature sensor IP 65 (9070459) at input C3 and C4. The finally desired temperature has to be set via the app.

Is there any possibility to control LUXORliving remotely via WLAN?

This option is feasible, if a VPN access is set on the mobile phone. No matter, if an IP address or DHCP setting has been chosen (please find some example settings in a separate document)

In case of a faulty device, do I need to configure LUXORliving from the very beginning?

No, in case of a faulty appliance, the hardware has to be replaced by a device.

Afterwards you will have to start the search function from the menu to reconnect with the system. This may take up to 2 minutes. The newly detected device will be listed in green coulour, the faulty one is displayed in red.

Now drag the green entry upon the red entry and drop it. Then start downloading the programm again. Don’t forget to prepare LUXORplay as well.

Is there any possibility to integrate devices for the ventilation or dehumidification of rooms in LUXORliving?

Push button interfaces, e.g. T2/ T4/ T8 or our CO2 sensor AMUN 716 R (potential free contact included) can be integrated to control e.g. humidity via fans.

How do I reset appliances to default settings?

IP1 Master RESET (Note: The password for IP 1 is set back to default (admin). Project data will be erased afterwards)
Select RESET in the display, confirm the selection by pressing RETURN. Now choose MASTER RESET from the available options and hold the RETURN button for approx.10 secs.

IP1 RESTART
If the RESTART DEVICE function is selected, only the LUXORliving IP1 is restarted. No data is lost, but all active connections to the system are interrupted for a short time.

Device RESET for all LUXORliving devices (Attention - after that, the device has to be configured from the very beginning)

  1. First, briefly press the left button of the power supply P640 - the red LED lights up for approx. 20 seconds.
  2. Now press the PROG button of the LUXORliving device that has to be reset until the red LED on the power supply has gone out. Then release the PROG button.

Can several heating circuits / actuator channels be controlled with just one room temperature controller?

In general, 2 actuators (24V AC) can be directly connected to each heating actuator of the LUXORliving series.
However, if more is needed in larger rooms, a grouping of channels is necessary.

Method:

  1. Set up a heating function in the room structure
  2. Connec an actuator channel (right-hand list) with the heating function.
  3. Open the group function
  4. Create a new heating group, e.g. 'living room'.
  5. Now connect the required room temperature controller for the group with the newly created group 'living room'
  6. Create one or more additional heating channels
  7. Now open the group window and activate the channel for participation in the group 'living room'
Is a grouping of functions possible, for example switching / dimming / blinds?

If, for example, the light is to be controlled in a toilet and a fan is operated in parallel with just one triggering button, then this function can be used.

  1. Create a switching function in the room structure
  2. Connect a switching channel with the function switch
  3. Create a new switching group - for example, 'toilet'
  4. Now assign the button in the toilet to the group 'toilet'
  5. Apply a second switching function, such as fan (set switch-off delay)
  6. Open the group window and activate the channel for participation in the 'toilet' group
